Welcome to WeatherCal For The World("the App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our App on iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play).

We respect your privacy. We do not operate any servers. All your personal data stays on your device. We only share the minimum information needed to show you weather data.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information Stored on Your Device

The App stores the following data locally on your device only. This data is never sent to our servers because we do not have any servers.

  • Device Location: When you tap "Use current location," we read your latitude and longitude using Apple Core Location (iOS) or Android LocationManager (Android). We only request "when in use" permission. We never request background location access.
  • Saved Locations: The cities and places you save for weather tracking.
  • Calendar Events and Reminders: Events you create within the App.
  • App Preferences: Your theme, language, and unit settings.
  • Vietnamese Lunar Calendar Data: Lunar dates and Can Chi zodiac information.

All this data is stored in a local SQLite database and SharedPreferences on your device.

2.2 Information Shared with Third-Party Services

To provide weather and location features, we send limited data to the following services:

  • WeatherAPI.com: Receives your latitude and longitude to return current weather, hourly forecasts, and daily forecasts.

  • Open-Meteo: Receives your latitude and longitude to return air quality data. Also used as a backup for location search.

  • OpenStreetMap Nominatim: Receives your latitude and longitude to find the city, region, and country name for your location.

  • Apple App Store / Google Play Billing: Handles all subscription purchases, billing, refunds, and renewals. We never see your payment card details.

When you search for a city by name, only the search text is sent to the geocoding service. Your GPS location is not sent during search.

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

  • Analytics: We do not use any analytics SDKs.
  • Advertising: We do not show ads or use advertising SDKs.
  • Tracking: We do not track you. We do not use Apple's IDFA or Android's Advertising ID.
  • User Accounts: The App does not require sign-in or registration.
  • Payment Data: We never see, store, or process your credit card or payment information.
  • Crash Reports: We do not collect crash reports.

3. How We Use Information

We use your information only to provide the App's features:

  • Show weather for your current location or saved locations.
  • Display air quality information.
  • Show city and region names for coordinates.
  • Store your preferences, saved locations, and calendar events locally.
  • Verify your subscription status to unlock premium features.

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone for marketing purposes.

4. How Information Is Stored and Retained

All your data is stored locally on your device in a SQLite database and SharedPreferences. We do not have servers, so your data never leaves your device except when sent to third-party weather APIs.

Retention: Your data stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App. When you uninstall the App, all locally stored data is automatically deleted by your operating system.

5. Subscriptions and Purchases

The App offers two auto-renewable subscription options, each with a 3-day free trial:

Auto-Renewal

Subscriptions automatically renew unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period. The free trial converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel before the trial ends.

6. Children's Privacy

This App is not directed at children under 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information.

7. International Users and Data Transfers

The third-party weather and geocoding APIs we use may process your requests on servers located outside your country. When you use the App, your latitude and longitude may be sent to servers in the United States, Europe, or other regions where these services operate.

We do not control where these third parties process data. Please review their privacy policies (linked above) for more information.

8. Your Rights

For Users in the European Union (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data.
  • Deletion: Request that we delete your personal data.
  • Portability: Request your data in a portable format.
  • Object: Object to certain processing of your data.

Since all your data is stored only on your device, you already have full control. You can delete all your data by uninstalling the App.

For Users in California (CCPA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, you have the right to:

  • Know: What personal information we collect and how we use it.
  • Delete: Request deletion of your personal information.
  • Opt-out of Sale: Opt out of the sale of your personal information.

We do not sell your personal information. All your data is stored locally on your device. Uninstalling the App deletes all your data.

Managing Your Subscription

To cancel your subscription or request a refund, use the subscription management features in your App Store or Google Play account. We cannot process cancellations or refunds directly.

9. Security

Your data is protected by the security features built into your device's operating system. The local SQLite database is stored in the App's private storage area, which other apps cannot access.

When we send your location coordinates to third-party weather APIs, all data is transmitted securely over HTTPS. We do not transmit any other personal data.

10. Permissions Used

The App requests the following permissions:

  • Location (When In Use):To get weather data for your current position. This permission is only requested when you tap "Use current location." You can deny this permission and still use the App by searching for locations manually.
  • Internet: To fetch weather data, air quality data, and location names from third-party APIs.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.

If we make significant changes that affect your rights, we will notify you through the App or by other means before the changes take effect.
